Find Our Talents
I am an actress, clown, burlesque striptease artist, singer, and equestrian artist with over 25 years of experience and 20 years of life in France in the Paris region. I have already founded several theater companies and cooperatives, such as Le Théâtre du Partage, Words Up!, and Burlesque Moulin. I mainly work in the English-speaking actor community in Paris but have also worked with many French and other nationalities. Thanks to all these years in the field, I have many contacts, colleagues and friends, acquaintances, and friends of friends. If among these diverse, competent, and creative people I can't find the person needed to embody a certain role, I know the channels to find new artists to add to our pool. So I have the knowledge and skills that make me responsible for casting for our immersive experiences. Of course, like everything at Eat The Cake Studio, we are four helping each other and making decisions together but it is usually me who organizes the castings, contacts and informs the artists.
I know how hard it can be to be an actor, a stage artist, or a temporary worker in the entertainment industry, and that's why I am always delighted when I can offer work to people I care about but above all who are competent and talented artists who should have more recognition and be paid much more, but who, like so many of us, remain more or less in the shadows, working on small projects here and there, often their own creations, but due to lack of visibility they haven't really "broken through" as we say.
When I realize I don't have the right actor for a certain role, or if an actor needs to be doubled because she is not available when needed, I organize a casting which usually takes place in 5 steps :
First, I contact my network to ask if they know people who might meet the criteria.
Then I post an announcement on Cinéaste.org and on our pages and FB groups.
When I have received a good number of candidates, I sort through those I think could best fit our search according to their appearance, skills, and experience. Generally, we look for artists who are at least reasonably bilingual French/English.
I contact these artists and ask for their availability, probe their motivation and enthusiasm for the project and role, and test their skills.
I share with my team all the information I have collected as well as my recommendations and we make a choice for the role and the event concerned. All other candidates with an interesting profile are kept in my archives to be drawn from next time we need an actor, a burlesque striptease artist, a singer, or a performer.
We always manage to find the people we need to make our experiences credible, authentic, interactive, and dynamic and fortunately because we want the characters in our experiences to be played by competent and enthusiastic artists. This is part of our quality charter.
