How to create the perfect virtual Christmas
Every year, we have the pleasure of organizing the virtual Christmas of the Artline Institute, a 100% online digital arts school. Now that Work From Home is becoming common, we thought our secret recipe might help some of you create your own online event. Merry Christmas! 😘

The Cabinet of Curiosities of Eat the Cake Studio
On November 4th last, we prototyped a new live experience for a select audience of guests. Based on our existing universes, we wanted to create an intimate and exclusive experience, with the potential to constantly renew itself.

An immersion in the circus with Boxplanet
Thanks to our event “The Originals,” which took place last April, we met H l e8ne Edouard who manages BoxPlanet, an event agency. Seduced by our universes and our expertise, she recently called on us to animate a private party.

Playing Annie Oakley, a historical character, in an immersive show
When I started playing Annie Oakley in The Legend of Buffalo Bill at Disney Village in December 2008, it was a dream come true. I hadn’t thought it would be possible to combine my two passions into a single job. I performed in front of over 1000 people, in an indoor arena, on horseback. It was also an immersive show, even though we didn’t use that term at the time.

Creation & Design: our Goose Game
When we started creating our private experience around Marie-Antoinette, in which a handful of participants have the chance to spend a few hours in the company of the queen and one of her favorites, we were very aware of the difficulty of adapting her story into such an intimate and restricted format; our original show employed no less than 11 actors!

A Speakeasy for Two: An Immersive & Exclusive Experience
On July 12th, we welcomed two lucky winners for an exclusive private immersive experience. We hosted them for a dinner in the full splendor of the 1920s, a journey back in time for an unforgettable evening in a Prohibition speakeasy. Here’s how we created this experience.

Our “Versailles Imagined” experience in a luxury hotel
Since 2019, we have been developing our universe “Versailles Imagined”. We give you the opportunity to join the Court of Marie Antoinette to fully experience a vibrant period of French History.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" becomes reality
I had the idea to stage A Midsummer Night's Dream in a park or forest years ago, maybe 10 years ago, long before founding Eat The Cake and long before staging shows with teenagers at the MJC of Crépy-En-Valois. So dreams do come true one day or another if you keep thinking about them and watch for the right moment, the opportune moment.

A brief history of sideshows
It seems that sideshows (or freak shows as they were called at the time) started in the 16th century. Generally, these were traveling shows, going from town to town and sometimes part of a larger fair.

The Birth of a "Freak"
One of my favorite early series from HBO’s golden years was called Carnivale. Created by Daniel Knauf, himself recently arrived at HBO, Carnivale was a historical and supernatural fiction centered around a traveling carnival in 1930s United States. The storyline explored the classic theme of good versus evil but flipped the concept to offer viewers food for thought.

Sally Skull, a recycled character
One might wonder, how do they do it at Eat The Cake Studio to create incredible universes full of characters in such a short time? Well, it's because they recycle characters and actors.

How the Far West Built Its Legends
The creation of immersive historical experiences is a delicate balancing act between the desire to get as close as possible to historical reality… and the need to make the facts as entertaining as possible.

The Second Life of the Western
When we look for ideas for our immersive experiences, we do not only take market desires into account, even though that is an important step. Our ideas also come from our own past, our adventures, our desires, and our dreams. It is exactly from there that the idea of creating an immersive experience around the Far West came, and in particular around a little-known aspect of that era: the great urban cities.

How It All Began
When we decided to put on our first immersive production, we wanted to recreate two universes: the western, and the court of Versailles. Our first idea was to open an “experiential bar” which, like an escape room that usually offers several rooms, would offer two different experiences each evening.
