An Extraordinary Journey: The College of Extraordinary Experiences 2023
Imagine a place where creativity knows no bounds, where innovation reigns supreme, and where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. Such a place exists, and I had the incredible chance to attend it during the College of Extraordinary Experiences of 2023 (CEE). I embarked on a captivating journey at this exceptional event where I learned, connected, danced, sang, loved, clowned around, and much more.

The bus journey from Berlin to the castle that housed the CEE was already a fascinating experience, and it was just beginning. Captivating discussions took place with people from all corners of the world. Sitting next to me was a designer of immersive experiences from Saudi Arabia, across from me was a charming man from Serbia, and diagonally opposite was a magician from Israel who amazed us with magic tricks. Participants from all over Europe, the Americas, and even places as distant as Kenya and Australia were present. As soon as I stepped onto the bus, I was filled with anticipation for everything that was about to unfold. We arrived at the castle in Poland, an imposing and majestic structure, surrounded by a vast park. The event began with an opening ceremony that guided us through a mini-journey where we met each teacher through small experiences led by each. It took time, but we were fascinated, and it set the tone for the days to come.
What struck me most during this first day was the diversity of the participants. From artists and scientists to entrepreneurs and educators, individuals from all backgrounds gathered to push the limits of their skills, learn, create, and build connections. This mix of talents and ideas created a generous and dynamic atmosphere, giving rise to countless conversations and collaborations.

Although the essence of the CEE lies in its carefully selected participants, the first two full days of the event offered immersive workshops and highly interactive experiences. We were actively involved in practical exercises that challenged our biases and stimulated our creativity. Whether designing an abstract artwork from random objects, learning to recognize animal tracks in the forest, or designing our own funerals, the teachers were experts in their field, generous and kind in sharing their knowledge.
The spirit of collaboration at the CEE was contagious. These interactions were not just simple networking; they aimed to create something meaningful and impactful. On the third full day, participants were encouraged to propose workshops and experiences themselves. There were so many interesting offerings that I felt virtually paralyzed by FOMO, the fear of missing out, but I managed to choose and participate in a few very enriching workshops. In the evening, participants also proposed experiences, often more artistic in nature. I had the privilege of being the sole spectator for a short improvised show specially created for me by a very talented actor/poet and two musicians. I also proposed an interactive experience of erotic poetry and performance, which attracted about twice the number of participants expected. That evening, I was even joyfully drawn into an improvised fire dance performance.
Even as the event was coming to an end, it was clear that the participants had undergone a transformation. We had pushed our limits, learned from each other, and experienced a unique form of personal and professional growth. The closing night included a departure ceremony that reversed the opening ceremony. It was followed by a cabaret-style show that Frances practically created in one day, where I performed my burlesque clown number. Then, we danced, talked, shared... I pulled an all-nighter and then bathed in the pool with my roommate and one of the wonderful women I had shared the previous night with, before taking the bus back to Berlin.
The College of Extraordinary Experiences of 2023 was a transformative journey that highlighted the immense power of bringing together diverse talents and perspectives to create something exceptional. I left the CEE with new skills, an active network of inspiring people, and an unshakable faith in the limitless potential of human imagination and cooperation!
